He was born in France
When the Nazi occupied France in 1941 they imprisoned thousands of people and used many as slave workers.
He was sent to work on Jersey in the Channel Islands where he died.
He was first buried in the Strangers Cemetery in St Helier.
This cemetery was full in 1832 but re-opened in 1941 by the Todt Organisation who used it for the burial of its slave workers and later for disgraced German soldiers.
100 identified bodies were removed in 1961 by the German War Graves Organisation to Mont de Huisnes where most were interred in Vault 16, 5 others in Vault 53. and others in Vault 51
