Stokely Ward Medford was the son of Zachariah Hardin Medford and Elizabeth Ward Medford. He married Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie" Sanders 7 September 1879 in Erath Co., Texas. They were the parents of nine children. After the death of Elizabeth, Stokley married Carrie Ola LaFon Snoddy 24 December 1905 in Texas. They were the parents of three children. Stokely and Carried are in the Medford Family Plot.

Stokley Ward Medford passed the majority of his life in Hico, the city of his birth. Mr. Medford was a member of a pioneer family of this section. Stokley was born in a house where the Alpine Hotel now stands [1931] and died within two blocks of where he was born. He spent all of his life in Hico with the exception of four years. On 7 September 1878, Mr. Medford married Miss Sallie Sanders. T o this union were born nine children, two having died in infancy. She preceded him in death. Mr. Medford married Miss Ola Lafon on 24 December 1905. To this union were born two children. Services were conducted by Rev. A.C. Haynes, assisted by Rev. J.P. Gilliam. Surviving are his wife and children - Mrs. L.H. Simpson, Mrs. J.C. Cox, Mrs. Joe Harris, Mrs. Charlie Langston, Mrs. Cicero Richie, J.C. Medford, Frank Medford; four brothers - Zack Medford, Sam Medford, Isom Medford, and Wade Medford.
