Arthur Alonzo Davis, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Davis was born in Beatrice on September 11, 1875.
He married Vina Shoup in Fairbury, on December 13, 1930 (sic, 1920). To them was born five children:
Twin boys, Rayburn and Raymond and one girl, Margaret, who died in infancy. Two boys, Lonnie of Portland, Oregon and John of Longview, Washington, survive as does his widow and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Mills of Beatrice, and three grandchildren, Diana and Allen Davis of Portland and Michale Daivs (sic) of Longview and two nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Mr. Davis served for three years in the Phillipines during the Spanish-American War. After marriage, he and his family lived on a farm near Narka, Kansas. They moved to Fairbury in 1923, where he worked for the Fairbury Windmill Company for 30 years as a core maker.
He died in his home in Fairbury on Sunday, April 15, 1962.
Funeral services were held in the First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury, Thursday, April 19, 1962 with the pastor, Rev. Robert W. Jones, officiating.
Burial was in the Fairbury Cemetery with Traum's in charge.
