Warren Carney Bain, 89, died peacefully at his home on Friday, October 26, 2018. He was born on April 19, 1929 in Dinwiddie, Virginia to Preston Carney and Eunice Hawkins Bain. Dinwiddie was his lifetime home. Warren served bravely and faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid farmer and greatly enjoyed flying his plane, as well as traveling to the mountains and to Nags Head. Warren was active in his community as a longtime member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and Old Hickory Hunt Club. He was also former Commander of American Legion Post 149. Warren was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Malcom and Durwood; and two sisters, Gay and Janet. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Birdsall Bain; sons, Preston (Donna) and Chip (Cindy); daughter, Sara; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Gwendolyn Carter and Peggy Bain. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Smyrna Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Bain Family Cemetery.
