Mr. Boyd was born February 24, 1926 in Jayess, MS to Quilla Boyd and Cornellia Maddox Boyd. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mr. Boyd retired from the United States Air Force. He also served in the Navy during WWII and the Army where he did a tour of duty in Korea. He was a linguist, capable of speaking Japanese and Russian. He was a car enthusiast after retirement, he loved to tinker with and fix cars to sell.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Durrell Dean Boyd, Jr. and Patricia of King George, VA; a daughter, Patsy Ann Boyd of McComb; three grandchildren, Amy, Matthew and Becky; twelve great grandchildren, Brandon, Carrieanne, Ashton, Madison, Will, Carter, Elijah, Kyle, Joseph, Anna, Katelyn, and Claudia; a great granddaughter, Mckensie.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, management and residents of The Claiborne for being his home and family for the last sixteen months. He is at his eternal home now, enjoying his Lord and reuniting with his wife of seventy-four and a half years, Gertrude Boyd.
