Obituary Transcript

TH, David Floyd David passed away peacefully with family at his side on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Clair Hills Retirement Community, formerly of Luther Village and Wellesley. David was 92 years old - 10 days shy of his 93rd birthday. Survived by his wife Eileen (nee Roth) with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on June 20, 1951, his children Karen and Stewart Sauder, and Ronald and Bonnie Roth. Loved grandpa of Kaitlin and Joshua Zubrickas, and Kendra Sauder and Kayla Roth, and great-grandpa of Ellie, Benjamin and Evelyn Zubrickas. David was born on July 21, 1925 and raised on the family farm on Settlement Road, southeast of Wellesley. Survived by his sister Barbara (Nelson) Zehr, sisters-in-law Dora Roth and Marion Roth, and Eileen's family Erma Roth, Viola Wagler, and Leon (Ruth) Shantz. Predeceased by parents David and Barbara (Jantzi) Roth, and siblings Elmer (Esther) Roth, Alvin (Madeline) Roth, Michael Roth, Lizzian Roth (in infancy), Nancy (Aaron) Bast, John (Erma) Roth, Milton (Clara) Roth, and Ernest Roth. David worked hard all of his life with the mantra that you should do something right the first time. He worked on the family farm, then for Clayton Steinman doing custom farm work. He was a mill hand and truck driver for the Jantzi Feed Mill in Wellesley, and then joined the Region of Waterloo Roads Department until his retirement. In retirement, he joined the grounds crew at Foxwood Golf Course and continued as a truck driver making deliveries for A.W. Jantzi Apple Products, while Eileen did the navigating. He also enjoyed spending time at the family farm helping his nephew by driving tractor during the harvest and producing the perfect straight furrow. Dave and Eileen enjoyed their cottage at Chesley Lake, especially their time on the golf course. He also enjoyed helping his children with any projects around their homes. He was a faithful member of Crosshill Mennonite Church. Visitation at Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley, ON will take place on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A family interment will take place at Rushes Cemetery on Sunday, July 15, 2018 followed by a Celebration of David's Life at Crosshill Mennonite Church, 2537 Hutchison Road, Crosshill, ON at 3:00 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship. Donations in memory of David may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee. Special thanks to the staff of Clair Hills Retirement Community and to Dad's many Care Partner workers who supported him with care, compassion, and respect as his abilities and health failed, and to his Palliative Team, especially Kelly and Donna, who advocated for his end of life care. We will forever be grateful to all of you for walking with us on Dad's final journey.
