Delores Burchett Cooley, age 82, of Chestnut Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012, at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling.

Born March 17, 1930, in Carter County, Kentucky, she was the first born of twelve children to Wilford (W. P.) and Ola Baker Burchett.

Besides her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, James Clyde Cooley, who passed away on October 3, 2008; one brother, Jolly Roger Burchett, on May 31, 2012; and a son, Larry Michael Cooley, at birth in 1949.

Delores is survived by her daughter, Linda D. Cooley Fultz and husband Paul, and her 14-year-old grandson, Michael Paul Fultz, all of Morehead, Kentucky; four sisters, Alice Shay and husband Robert of Garden City, Michigan, Betty Kay Jacobs and husband Robert of Grayson, Kentucky, Bertha Bond of Morehead, Kentucky, and Peggy Hall and husband James of Morehead, Kentucky; six brothers, James A. Burchett and wife Bonnie of Pikeville, Kentucky, John Paul Burchett and wife Bonnie of Morehead, Kentucky, Daniel Allen Burchett and wife Lillie of Norman, Oklahoma, Gary W. Burchett of Titusville, Florida, David W. Burchett of Greenup, Kentucky, and Doug Burchett and wife Sandra of Raceland, Kentucky.

Other survivors include nieces, nephews, extended family, and many special friends.

Delores was the matriarch of the Burchett family, whom she adored and helped raise, and always looked forward to the regular -sister vacations.- She graciously carried the same love, loyalty and commitment to her marriage and career. Delores and Clyde were kindred spirits and enjoyed many hours together at The Morehead News and in Cooley-s Photography, the business they owned and operated. They captured countless weddings and memorable events and were first in the area to use video recording. Always a lady with a generous, loving spirit, Delores saw only the beauty in people, in nature, and in every situation. She enjoyed her Johnson First Church of God family, especially the women-s group at the church.

Delores and Clyde adored their grandson, Michael, and believed their lives were not only enriched, but extended, by him. Providing faithful and devoted care for family was always important to Delores. She will be lovingly remembered by all.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Furman officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Family Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.

Visitation is 2 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
