William "Bill" Lawrence Anderson
St. George, UT - William Lawrence Anderson, 86, died February 20, 2007 due to respiratory failure. He was born to Parley Seymore Anderson and Sarah Elizabeth Oaks on March 25, 1920. He married D. Carolyn Strawhun June 14, 1952 in Alhambra, California. The marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on July 18, 1964.
Bill grew up in Daniel, Utah near Heber City where he attended schools and church. Later on he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and learned the skills of carpentry and cooking. In 1941 he joined the Marine Corp and served in WWII and Korea.
Bill received a degree in Civil Engineering and took a position with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. He retired in 1978 and moved to St. George in 1983 to be close to children and grandchildren.
Bill was the fourth of seven children and was preceded in death by all but one brother, Arvin. He is survived by his wife; one son, Lynn (Betty); one daughter, Beverly; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 23, 2007, 11 a.m., Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held on Friday, 9:30-10:45 a.m., prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
