Mrs. Doris Steedley, 78, died Sunday evening (Aug. 26, 2001) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
She is a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was a laborer at Waycross Molding for twelve years. Her parents were Edward Obediah Barber and Laura Rogers Barber. Her husband was the late William Spence Steedley. She is preceded in death by her son, Eddie Steedley and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Marie Plasky (husband Harry) of Waycross; a daughter-in-law, Ann Steedley of Waycross; six grandchildren, James Dowling (wife Lynn) of Blackshear, Patsy Villiers (wife Kevin) of Homerville, Laura Ganas (wife Charles) of Lakeland, Spence Steedley (wife Rhonda) of Woodland, AL, Tracy Steedley of Homerville, and Shawn Plasky (wife Tracy) of Lakeland, FL; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Jessie Walker of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.
