Mrs. John Brokus, 48, of 505 E. 13th Street, died at a local hospital at 2:30 Thursday morning. She had been ill for the last six months.
The body is at the Hoffmann Mortuary where friends may call after 7 o'clock this (Thursday) evening. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Brokus was born in Greeley, Ia., on June 28, 1897, and came to Dubuque three years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church. As Jesse Cornwell, she was married at Independence on March 10, 1919.
Survivors are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Dexter (Rose) Wolfe, Cedar Rapids, and Leola Brokus, at home; four sons, Floyd W. Brokus and William Brokus, both of Dubuque, and John Brokus Jr. and James Brokus, at home; her father, William Cornwell, Greeley; three sisters, Mrs. Jesse Fischer, Davenport; Mrs. Lucille Tumor, Anamosa, and Mrs. Eva Ingles, Greeley, and four brothers, William, Robert, Ben and Victor Cornwell, all of Greeley; also three grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. John Brokus, 505 E. 13th Street, who died Thursday morning, were held at the Hoffmann Mortuary at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Ronald E. Terry, pastor of St. Luke's Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Linwood Cemetery, where Dr. Terry said graveside prayers. Pallbearers were Ervin Shepherd, Arthur Welu, Fran Defendi, Elmer Dee, James Hoag, and Roy Hines.
Here for the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Wolfe, Cedar Rapids; William Cornwell and Mrs. William Cornwell, Jr., both of Greeley, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Winans, Anamosa.
