His wife was the sister of Thomas Craig. In 1728 they moved, along with Col. Thomas Craig, and others, to Craig's Settlement in Allen Twp. Northampton Co. He is considered a founding father. He lived on a farm later owned by John Miller. His family records were burned by the Indians in 1765. John died on the farm, just like this author's ancestor. In both cases, there are arguments as to whether the were buried on the farm or in the settlement cemetery. his wife outlived him by several years. Due to the family records being burnt by the Indians, 3 names of the children have been passed down orally as:
