SOUTH BARRE -- John B. Shadroui, 78, of Main Street, South Barre, died Tuesday afternoon in the Mary Fletcher Unit of the Medical Center Hospital, Burlington. He had operated the B&R Superette in South Barre for the past 26 years.
Born in Burlington, Dec. 9, 1903, he was son of Beshara P. and Eva (Daniels) Shadroui.
He attended schools in Barre and Goddard Seminary.
He worked with his father in the former B. P. Shadroui Store in Barre and 26 years ago commenced his own business in South Barre.
On Sept. 10, 1933, he married Amira Masi.
Besides his widow, he leaves two sons, Dr. B. John Shadroui of Lapeer, Mich., and Robert Shadroui of Rutland; five grandchildren, Robert, Cheryl, James and David of Lapeer, Mich., and Bonnie Shadroui of Barre; a brother, Tony Shadroui of Barre; six sisters, Miss Betty Shadroui, Mrs. Edwin (Mellie) Busby and Mrs. Julia Twombly, all of Barre, Mrs. Andrea Mae Mansur of Montpelier, Mrs. Edgar (Liza) Petell of Springfield, Mass., and Mrs. Michael (Anne) Sawaya of Montreal and Margate, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
Three sisters are deceased, Mrs. George (Philipino) Younes, Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Corey and Mrs. Nelson (Josephine) Allen.
Mr. Shadroui was a member of St. Monica Church and of the Star of Mt. Lebanon Society.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Church. Friends may call at the Pruneau Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, tonight from 7 to 9. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Entombment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery vault to await spring burial in St. Monica Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Heart Association, 56 Church St., Rutland.
