Theodore "Ted" Polston, 77, Shelbyville died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born June 21, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Omra A. and Flora (Hogue) Polston. He married Shirley Pursley on June 21, 1959, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Keith Polston of Shelbyville; sisters, Norma Bowers and Olena Carter, both of Shelbyville, and Barbara Absher of Florida; brothers, Ralph Polston, Phillip Polston and Frank Polston, all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kendra Polston and Jayson Polston; great-grandchildren, Kyanna Foxx and Kenyon Foxx; 19 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenny Polston; brother, Hayden "Jackie" Polston; and sister, Patricia Polston.
Mr. Polston had been a dispatcher for the Indiana State Highway Department and later employed at Holiday Inn, where he retired from. He also had been a school crossing guard for Shelby Central Schools for 10 years.
He was a member of the former Shelbyville Baptist Temple.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 South Harrison Street.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Ralph Polston officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
