Born 1678/9
Died 1747/8 age 69 years old.According to online Hartshorne burial ground records he died at age 69 years on this date. He appears to be the William Hartshorne who was born on the first month, 22nd day of 1678/79 to Richard Hartshorne and Margaret Carr. William had three wives - the first wife being Catherine Bowne, a daughter of John Bowne and Lydia Holmes, the second wife being Helena Willett, a daughter of Col. Thomas Willett and his wife Heiltie (a/k/a Helena) Stoothoff, and the third wife being Elizabeth Lawrence, a daughter of William Lawrence and Ruth Gibbons. He had three children by his first wife, two children by his second wife, and seven children by his third wife.

He is listed as the third generation on a Hartshorne Genealogy which I accessed on the internet. This genealogy lists three children by his first wife - Margaret (1704 to 1745), Richard 1708 and died at sea), and William (1709 to 1746); two children by his second wife - Mary (1714 to 1782) and Thomas (1715 to 1795); and seven children by his third wife - Hugh (1719 to 1777) who married Hannah Pattison in 1741 and had nine children, Robert (1721 - 1801?, married Sarah Saltar in 1743, nine children?, four survived being William?, Elizabeth?, Richard?, and Sarah?), Catharine born 1723 and died young), John (1725 to 1813) who married Lucy Saltar in 1752, Esek (1727 or 1728 to 1795 who married Elizabeth Saltar in 1764 where he is listed as Enoch Hartshorne), Rachel (1730 to 1816) and Catharine (again), born in 1732. The genealogy then follows Hugh who married Hannah Pattison who had nine children. This is supplemented by another Hartshorne source that indicates that three of the sons of William Hartshorne by his third wife married three Saltar sisters who were daughters of Richard Saltar and his wife Hannah Lawrence.

He left a will on 25 Nov 1745, codicil 25 Aug 1746, proved 10 Mar 1748 according to the online genealogy. He may have resided at different times in Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey - or Portland, Highlands, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
