Charles Edward Thompson, 90, of Dunbar, WV, formerly of Greenbrier County, WV, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV.
Charles was a retired postal employee who began his post office career as a railway mail clerk, and retired as a postmaster in New Haven, WV. He was an honorably discharged Navy veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Alderson, WV.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Oma Bryant Thompson; and sister, Betty White.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Audra Jones Thompson of Dunbar, WV; children, Charles Edward Thompson, III, and wife Delma Grace, of Augusta, GA, Larry Michael Thompson and wife LaVanna, of Grassy Meadows, WV, Nancy Thompson Sheppard and husband Chris, of Charleston, WV, and David Thompson and wife Ann, of Rupert, WV; three sisters, Ruth Gladwell, Maye Staley and Myrtle Fitzwater; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Donel C. Kinnard VA State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV, with military rites.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to: Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., West, Charleston, WV 25387, in memory of Charles Thompson.
