Archie Wilson Starnes was born to Daley Emanuel Starnes-son of John Starnes, and Elizabeth Jones Starnes-daughter of Tranquille Haggedeth Darling-Jones and John Franklin Jones. He is the great grandson of Ephriam Darling and Peninah Coley-Darling, and the great grandson of Robert Jones and Nancy Pannell-Jones, He was married in the early 1940's to Hazel Elizabeth Powers who died having his child James Archie in 1944. In 1945 he married her Sister Violet Lee Powers. They were married until her death in Oct 1995. He was a farmer and loved to work on cars and do woodwork. He had a sister Ethel Starnes-Garrison and a Brother John Chifton Starnes. He had an Uncle Marshall Starnes of Union County. He love playing jokes on birthdays, on family tradition was rubbing butter on the nose of the birthday boy or girl. Archie and Violet had five other children together. Linda Jane Highland, Daley (D.L.), Sandra Kay Vincent, Ricki Lee, and Debra Ann Starne-Strange. today over 45 decendents carry on the Starnes name from his direct blood line. Combined with the decendents of his brother Clifton who was married to Miss Willie Lassiter there are over 100 decendents today of the Starnes brothers that settled into North Mississippi in the last century. His mother later married a Maddox, and he and Clif were raised up with a half brother Estes Maddox of Covington Tenn. The descendents of Archie Starnes include the family names Vincent, Strange, Highland, Kilcrease, Leatherwood,Bingham, he died at Magnolia Hospital in Corinth, of heart failure in 2003 and is buried between his wife Violet and his sister Ethel Starnes-Garrison. along side his granddaughter Linda Joann Martin and his mother-in-law Frances Parrish Powers-Milam and his Sister-in-Law Myrtle Elizabeth Powers-Dains.
