Elizabeth Jones Starnes born in 1888 to Tranquilla Darling and John Franklin Jones, she was the granddaughter of Robert Jones and Nancy Pannell-Jones,and Ephriam Darling and Pennie Coley-Darling. She married Daily Starnes I and had Archie Wilson, Ethel and Clifton and a Son named Estes Maddox of Covington,TN. Her mother was full blooded Choctow , legend told by my grandfather is the Indians headed to the reservations came to get Tranquille and she would not leave her children and husband and refused to go. My grandfather also remembered her singing to him in Choctow.they lived near New Albany, Ms. Elizabeth(Grandma Maddox), as she was known from a later marriage, later remarried Daily Starnes not long before he died in 1971, she died in the winter of 1977. and is buried next to, Daily Starnes. The life she lived was hard and most of us today can not imagine the difficult life she had trying to provide for her family. At the end of her life she lived near her sons and helped take care of the children. She was a religous women, without a bad bone in her body as her son remembered her. Later information has showned that Elizabeth was raised in the
Keowenville, area of Union County Ms.

Her robes are simple-she wears no crown. And yet she wears one;for, widowed no more, She is crowned with the love that has gone before,And crowned with the love she left behind, uncover your heads, lift up your hearts on high,The Queen in silence is driving by. Pf

Crimson and Red are the roses we lay, blood red like the heart that beats in her so true and pure, the mother of all mothers, the strong and brave and wise. good woman rest in peace, but keep your eye on us and keep us.(rh)
