Willie Avinelle "Nell" Turner, 91, of Clovis, NM died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at her home. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Muffley Funeral Home, 1430 N. Thornton, Clovis, NM, family will be accepting guest from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 16th and Pile Church of Christ, 1521 Pile Street, Clovis, NM, with Pastor Michael Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Gary Gomez, Jared Gomez, Maqhi McDonald, Otis Scawger, Ronnie Ward, and Aaron Allison-Smith will serve as pallbearers.
Nell was born September 10, 1927 in Gainesville, TX to Elmer Wayne Davis and Nell Eva Witt Davis. She married John Robert Turner on July 4, 1948 in Gainesville, TX. Nell worked at Sutton Bakery for 34 1/2 years, everyone in town knew her as The Donut Lady. She enjoyed gardening and yard work. Nell was a great cook. She was a member of 16th and Pile Church of Christ. She played the organ at home and most of her music by ear.
Survivors include: her daughter; Kathy Turner of Clovis, NM, four grandchildren; Gary (Sara) Gomez, Amber (David) Zimmerman, Leann McDonald (Aaron Allison-Smith), and Brenna Turner, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; John Robert Turner, son; Paul D. Turner, infant son; John R. Turner Jr., parents; Elmer and Nellie Davis, and she was the last of 9 siblings.
