Ruth E. Barnett, 85, of Baytown, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2018, in Kingwood, Texas. She was born in Oakland Illinois on October 19, 1932, to parents, Purl Bennett and Okel Peters Bennett.

Ruth moved to Baytown with her late husband where they lived most of their life together and raised their family. She had a strong faith in God and was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Baytown for 45 years. Ruth was also a member of the Catholic Daughters as well as the Legion of Mary. She was an art teacher by trade, a true calling, and loved every minute. Ruth also loved horticulture and was even a part of the Plumbwood Garden Club. He memory will be cherished by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Robert A. Barnett; son, Steven Barnett; daughter, Michelle Barnett; and five siblings.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Barnett and wife Irene and Chris Barnett and wife Gracie; daughter, Marcile Barnett; grandchildren, Neath Williams, Sean Harris, Bekah Barnett, Macy Lawson, Jonathan Barnett, Emily Barnett, Garrett Barnett, and Sarah Barnett; numerous other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment following at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
