Roger Dale Griggs, age 65, of Greeneville, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of East Prairie, Missouri, he was a son of the late Brooks and Azlee Blasingain Griggs. Mr. Griggs was a U.S Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He attended the United Baptist Church, Greeneville, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by two brothers, Mitchell and David Griggs; two sisters, Betty Green and Katherine Clemmons.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Griggs, Greeneville; three sons, Roger Griggs, II and wife Rene, Fall Branch, Paul Griggs, Greeneville, Jesse Griggs and wife Autumn, Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren, Adrian Blaylock, Taylor Griggs, Jude Griggs, Luke Griggs, Kilee Griggs, Abby Griggs, and Sawyer Griggs; one great grandchild, Oliver Blaylock; five brothers, Lee Griggs, Clifford Griggs, Stanley Griggs, Jimmy Griggs, and Billy Joe Griggs; two sisters, Ruby Mast and Martha True. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The graveside funeral service for Mr. Griggs will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Jim Greene and Rev. Nick Bailey officiating. Music will be provided by his brother, Stanley Griggs. Military Honors will be presented by the Carter County Honor Guard.

Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 P.M.
