David L. Griggs

Born March 15, 1948, in Mississippi County to the late Brooks Lee & Azlee Blasingain Griggs, David lived in Mississippi County most of his life where he was a retired Self-employed Carpenter, Mechanic, Tree Trimmer and for a short time a police officer for the City of East Prairie. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army. David was a minister in the past and was of the Pentecostal Faith.

He is survived by longtime companion, Linda Vanvickle; his former wife and mother of his children, Geraldine Willis Griggs; four sons Davie Wayne Griggs, Daniel Luther Griggs, Justin Tidwell and Scottie Tidwell; four daughters, Rebecca Anne Griggs, Rachel Lou Griggs, Charlotte Lee Griggs and Tamara D. Tidwell; one daughter-in-law, Michelle Griggs; six brothers, Clifford L. Griggs, Brooks Lee Griggs, II, Roger D. Griggs, Stanley Griggs, Billy Joe Griggs and James E. Griggs; two sisters, Martha A. True and Ruby L. Mast; by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and many friends.

Besides his parents, one son Billy Wayne Griggs; two sisters, Katherine Clemons and Betty L. Green; and one brother, Mitchell H. Griggs also preceded David in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 pm Sunday at 302 S. Washington, East Prairie where funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Monday September 14, 2015 with Bro. James E. Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery with full military graveside rites by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Griggs, Brooks Lee Griggs, Roger D. Griggs, Stanley E. Griggs, Billy Joe Griggs and James E. Griggs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Davie W. Griggs, Daniel L. Griggs, Justin Tidwell and Scottie Tidwell.
