At his home at 317 North Eighth Street,Robert Lee Cooper died Thursday morning at 3 o'clock. He had been in falling health several years. A sad feature is that his wife's father, Benjamin Zachary Boone, died Sunday.
Robert Lee Cooper was born November 12 1867 in Orwood, Lafayette county, Miss. and was married October 6, 1901 to Miss Sophie Boone, who with three daughters, Miss Bertha Cooper of Tulsa, Miss Agnes Cooper and Miss Celeste Cooper of McAlester; three sons, Ben Cooper, Robert Cooper and Billy Cooper, all of McAlester; one grandson, David Cooper ; four sisters, Mary E. Cooper Jones, Nola Cooper Miles, Ada Cooper Powell and Abbie Cooper Ray; four brothers, Baxter Cooper ,Esco Cooper , Frank Cooper and Dick Cooper survive.
Deceased came to McAlester in 1898.
Funeral services will be held in his late home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, Rev, Dr. S.R. Braden officating. Interment will be at Oak Hill cemetery.

(The 1905 City Directory shows Robert to be a "well driller". The 1910 census records show him to be a "city policeman". He is then shown as "carpenter" which is the profession that he taught his son, Ben, my dad. BCF)
