Stanley L. Blacker of White Heath passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 after a long battle with multiple myeloma.

Stan was born December 9, 1950 in Monticello, Illinois, son of John and Jeanette Blacker. He married Brenda Mershon in Indianapolis in 1979. They have four children Tony (Kristin) Blacker of White Heath, Katie (Billy) Walden of White Heath, John Blacker of Vallejo, California, and Andrew Blacker of Monticello. Stan was very active with his four children throughout his life. He was also blessed to have 3 grandchildren, Max and Liam Walden and Addison Blacker.

He is also survived by step-brother Terry (Yvonne) Cresap of Acworth, GA, step-sister Marsha Cresap of San Diego, CA and step-sister Sharon (Dave) Hartsfield of Monticello, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Stan graduated from Monticello High School in 1969. He was a very successful athlete and his accomplishments include all conference defensive and offensive end and most valuable lineman for the Sages. He was also captain of the Sages baseball team.

Stan graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He played for the Effingham Comets in the mid-state semi-pro league and had an impressive batting average of .317.

After college he pursued a sales career in Indianapolis and met Brenda. They returned to White Heath to continue the family farm. Stan enjoyed sharing the importance of the family tradition with those he loved. The Blacker Farm Company is now in its 116th year.

During the 1980’s Stan was a successful insurance agent and in the 90’s he became a registered investment advisor for AIG VALIC. In 1998 he formed B&B Enterprises which includes Illini Oil Change, Vine Street Motors, T&B Finance and Vine Street Properties.

After retirement in 2006, Stan and Brenda enjoyed traveling often with friends and family. Stan continued to help the family businesses thrive.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with visitation immediately following until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake, Mahomet with Fr. Joseph Hogan officiating. Interment will be held in Monticello Township Cemetery.
