"Hugh Barrett Dies Friday - Will Be Buried Here Sunday"

Hugh H. Barrett, age 87, retired local quarry worker and former minister, died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Albright[sic - Allbright], Indianapolis, where he was visiting.

The deceased, formerly employed by the Empire Stone company as a quarryman, made his home with another daughter, Mrs. Mary Hassler, Bloomington, Rural Route Four. He had lived there since the death of his wife, Emma Jane, on April 30, 1933, prior to which time he and Mrs. Barrett made their home in Bloomington at 521 West Sixth Street.

In addition to Mrs. Albright[sic] and Mrs. Hassler, another surviving daughter is Mrs. Madeline Barnes of Indianapolis. Two surviving sons are Russell Barrett of Bedford and Newton Barrett of Muncie. Also left are three brothers, Daniel Barrett of Indianapolis, Andrew Barrett of Stanford and 13 grandchildren.

This afternoon the body was removed from the Allen Funeral home to the Hassler home on Route Four, where it will lie in state until the funeral hour.

Services will be Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Harrodsburg Methodist church with the Rev. Lewis Bradford in charge.

Burial will be in Clover Hill cemetery. Music during the rites will be in charge of Mrs. Leslie Peters and Mrs. Noble Henderson.

Pallbearers will be William Mercer, Mort Siscoe, John Cutwright, Rufus Danner, Alfred Miller and Luther Kirk.
