Mrs. Ray Shippy Dies Unexpectedly
Mrs. Carrie Amelia Shippy, Kingsville, passed away suddenly Sept. 7 at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Warrensburg. She was the daughter of John and Ella Blausey -Beard born Feb. 20 1891, in Fremont, Ohio. She married Ray Shippy in Lincoln, Nebr. Nov. 28, 1910 and has made her home in the Kingsville area for the last 57 years.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 10th, at 2:00 p. m. at he Elm Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Pittman officiating. Burial will be at the Elm Spring Cemetery under the direction of Huber and Wood Funeral Home.
Casket bearers will be Bill Benthusen, Gene Benthusen, Kenny Shippy, Larry Ray Shippy, Ronnie Redwine and Bob Redwine.
Mrs. Shippy was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 1958 and one son, Leonard, in 1919. Surviving are three sons, Raymond Shippy, Holden, Don Shippy, Spring Hill, Kans,; and Pete Shippy Olathe, Kans., two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Benthusen, Kansas City and Mrs. Obi (Velma) Redwine, Grandview; on brother, Harold Beard, Lincoln, Nebr,; 20 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Shippy home west of Kingsville on Wednesday evening after 4:00 p.m.
