Genevieve is survived by her son, Prudy, her daughter, Paulette, her son-in-law, John and her grandchildren, Claire and Noah.
Genevieve joins many family members and friends in heaven, her husband, Prudy, her daughter-in-law, Margaret, her mom and dad, Elena and Andres, her sisters and brothers, Tommie, Blandina (Blandy), Johnnie, Andy and Ralph and many more relatives than can be listed.
Bebe was born and raised in Albuquerque and had crazy and beautiful stories about her early days. The stories were many and all focused-on love of family and perseverance in life.
Mom liked to tell the story of her Mom coming home one day, telling her to go to the gas station on 4th street because there was a boy there that "I want you to marry!" Leave it to my mom to follow orders, and sure enough, she met my Dad that day. Although it was probably quite wrong in the day, Mom asked Dad to take her to a dance - that is how their love story began.
There were many good and a few bad days after that first Hello - but most days were good. They were good because Mom and her sisters and brothers, and their spouses, always stayed close. They banded together when a problem arose. There really was no "in-law" in the family. If you married one of the family, you were part of the family.
We are all blessed because we saw that amazing love in action - in good times and bad. Mom and Dad, Mom's siblings and their spouses, persevered, lived, worked, and played hard … and always watched each other's' backs. They believed in themselves and in each other - and we were all blessed to see it in action.
We now have to move forward and pass all the love and teachings to our kids and grandkids That is what the Gutierrez legacy is all about. That is how we honor our moms and dads. And, although it is quite sad for us to say goodbye, it isn't goodbye forever and it isn't goodbye if we pass it forward.
