GREELEY — Jean Marie Ryan, 87, of Greeley passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at the Brookfield Park Care Center in St. Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Antony Thekkekara will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.

Jean Marie was born Feb. 28, 1931, at Spalding, to Martin and Gertrude (Krick) Glaser. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Jean received her education at Greeley Country School District #10 and graduated from Spalding Academy in 1949. Following graduation, she taught at a country school in Greeley County for one year.

On June 21, 1950, Jean was united in marriage to Robert Ryan at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding. The couple purchased a farm three miles east of Greeley, starting out as a multi-farm operation; then in 1961, they built and operated a Grade “A” Dairy. While raising their six sons, they continued farming and milking until their retirement in 2000, when they moved into their newly built home in Greeley.

Mr. Ryan passed away on March 17, 2010. Jean continued to make her home in Greeley until January of 2017, when she became a resident of Brookfield Park Nursing Center in St. Paul.

Jean was a member of the Church of Visitation of Blessed Virgin Mary at O’Connor and then Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Greeley. She belonged to the Sacred Heart Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and was a past member of Greeley Extension Club.

Jean was a homemaker and farm wife; she enjoyed her life on the farm, helping with the farm finances and chores, milking, raising chickens, gardening and canning. The couple liked to square dance and during their retirement they traveled and cruised through the Panama Canal and Alaska, and visited Hawaii.

Survivors include six sons and three-daughters-in-law, Joe and Andy and Jackie all of Greeley, Larry of Omaha, Tom, Terry and Paula all of Lincoln, and Paul and Tina of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Teresa Marish of Spalding and Marcella Braun of Columbus; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Shirley Glaser of Spalding and Clarence and Lea Glaser of Florida; a sister-in-law, Caroline Glaser of Spalding; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary and John Smith, Rita and Bob Bauer and Betty and Brose Seamann; a brother, Francis Glaser; and a brother-in-law, George Braun.
