Jean Amon Zimmer, of Sandy Lake Township, passed from this earth to be with Jesus on Friday, August 24, 2018, at St Pauls Homes in Greenville Pa.

She was 93 years old. She died of natural causes.

She treasured her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. We have no doubt she is rejoicing in heaven now.

She was born December 12, 1924, at the Amon Farm on Raymilton Road in Mineral Township, Venango County.

She was the daughter of Homer Perrine Amon and Bernice Barnes Amon.

She attended the Raymilton one room school house for her elementary education and went on to graduate from Sandy Lake High School in the class of 1943.

After graduating high school she was employed during WW II at the Keystone Order Works of Geneva, Pa. After the war, she worked at Ibbs-Packer Oldsmobile in Franklin, Pa. In later years when her children were older, she worked at Lakeview School District at Oakview Elementary in Stoneboro, Pa, in the cafeteria. While she worked there she was lovingly known by many as the “Cookie Lady”. She retired in 1988.

She was married to the love of her life, James Brown Zimmer for 64 years. They married on March 16, 1946. He went to heaven on September 14, 2010.

They worked side by side over the years and built their home on the Franklin Road Sandy Lake, Pa.

Jean lived there until February 2016 when she went to reside at St Pauls Homes. She lived at the Heritage and later at the Villas where she passed away.

Together they raised four children: Gary Zimmer (Ginger) Sandy Lake, Pa, James (Denny) Zimmer ( Barbara) Sandy Lake, Pa., Michael Zimmer ( Beverly) Polk, Pa., Janene Minshull (Alan Curtis) Stoneboro, Pa.

She also had many Nieces and nephews who she loved.

She loved being a homemaker and loved all of her family beyond words. She loved being a mother, an aunt, and a Grandma.

Jean was a member of North Sandy Presbyterian Church for 45 years. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, directed a Junior choir and directed the adult choir for 34 years. She loved music and directed many community cantatas as well. The North Sandy choir, under her direction, sang at many functions also.

She was a member of the North Sandy Missionary Society for many years.

She was also a Den mother for the cub scouts that her sons participated in.

She later attended Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church for a number of years until going to reside at St Paul’s. Over the years she and her husband hosted many Bible Studies in their home.
