Troy Community/Beech Springs-William Clifton “W.C/Dub” Barber, 63, went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. Dub was born September 16, 1954 in Tupelo, MS. to Martha Alice and William Clifton Barber, Sr. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1972 and he attended Itawamba Community College. W. C. belonged to both Beech Springs Free Will Baptist Church and St. James Catholic Church. He was a member of the Beech Springs choir, the Knights of Columbus, Tupelo Civitan, Ducks Unlimited and he was an avid Mississippi State fan. WC loved children, horses, dogs and almost any animals. He was an excellent cook and loved creating dishes for his family. W.C. worker for over 17 years with the Tupelo Regional Office of the Mississippi Department of Medicaid where he dedicated his life to advocacy for children with special needs and the elderly. He organized and recruited yearly to support the drive to finance research and assistance for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He truly lived his life in service to others and his legacy will always be legendary in the hearts and souls of literally thousands of people he helped and encouraged in his years of outstanding service.

A time of visitation with the family will be from Noon-service time on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. The celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM with Bro. Dennis Kizzire and Father Tim Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Phyllis Floyd Barber; his sister, Linda Cochran and her husband, David of Beech Springs; his brother in law, Harry Floyd; his nieces, Missie Cochran, Mary Elizabeth Bishop and her husband, Mark; and Katy Irwin and her husband, Kyle; three great nieces, one great nephew and 3 god children; Jessie Rogers, Kelli Layton and Garrett Horton. His work associates at the Division of Medicaid and beneficiaries he helped everywhere.

Pallbearers will be Harry Floyd, David Cochran, Garrett Horton, Joey Carlisle, John Paul Blaylock, Don Barton, Lee Caldwell, Jim Reich and Charles Ray Barber. Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of the Tupelo office of the Division of Medicaid and Joe Johnson.
