Billy G. Conner, 76, formerly of Tipton, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Crestridge Care Center in Maquoketa.

Visitation will 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. A general memorial fund has been established in his memory.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa, with full Military Honors conducted by the Tipton American Legion Post #2537.

Billy Gerald Conner was born August 2, 1942, in Grand Island, Nebraska, the son of Wilford Conner and Mable (Oliver) Conner. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1960. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Cuban Crisis. He married Ardelle Janice Whisler on April 18, 1963, in Des Moines. He graduated from Iowa State University with an engineering degree and was employed as a county engineer in Potawatomie, Mills, Cedar, Adair, and Palo Alto counties. He worked in Florida before returning to Sigourney, where he worked in construction.

Surviving are his wife, Ardelle of Emmetsburg; one daughter, Ann (Darren) Miller of Tipton; two sons, William Conner of Crown Point, IN, and David (Nikki) Conner of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Sharon Kimberlin of Des Moines and Melody Conner of Kansas City, MO; and one brother, Ronald (Terry) Conner of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Carol Conner.
