Richard was born February 27, 1931 in Cary, North Carolina. After graduating from Fuquay Springs High School, he served in the US Airforce from 1951-1955 where he flew the Fairchild C119. He married Mamie Joe Snead on August 20, 1960. God gave them the honor of having two children, Rick and Sonya. Then in 1989, he became Big Daddy to Amber. Through 37 years of being a dispatcher, he sought the many changes of Standard Oil to Humble Oil, then Esso, and lastly Exxon. After retiring in1992, he and Jo traveled the world with the Exxon Retiree Club. He enjoyed woodworking in his past time. He is preceded in death by son Richard Jr., father Hannie, mother Gladys, brothers Walter, Gerald, and Roger, and sister Emma. He is survived by wife Jo, daughter Sonya, granddaughter Amber, and nephews Glen, Gary, and Greg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to:
Heart to Heart Hospice of Houston or
Louetta Road Baptist Church of Spring.
