Albert Asendorf was born in Craig, Mo., Sept. 28, 1893 and passed away Dec. 30, 1939, age 45 years, 3 months, 2 days. He was a son of Albert and Agnes Asendorf. He was graduated from the Craig high school in 1911 and from East Central State Teachers college in 1935. At the outbreak of the World's war he volunteered for service and enlisted in the 20th U. S. infantry and served overseas. While in service he was advanced to the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged after the close of the war. At the age of seventeen he was converted and united with the Methodist church. He remained a devout and loyal member of this church till his death. He started teaching school at the age of 20 and with the exception of short intermissions, has been continuously engaged in this work since. He was a member of the Masonic Order and the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion at Coalgate, and the State Teachers association. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Albert Assendorf [sic], a son, Howard, a sister, Mrs. A. H. Downs, and nine brothers, George, Henry, Adolph, Charley, Claude, Leo, Bernhardt, Oscar and Ivan Asendorf.

Note: the grave marker depicting the deaths of his family must have an error. It lists his death as being in Dec 1939. This newspaper was dated Jan 2, 1939 and would make this year of death impossible. The headstone should read 1938.
