Bryan, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, lost his life in a one-car accident 35 miles northwest of Flagstaff, Ariz., following a visit to Albuquerque, N.M. His son, who was with in the car, received minor injuries.
Bryan came to Santa Cruz following his retirement in 1962 and had worked closely with the city parks and recreation department for a number of years. He also helped organize the Neighborhood Youth Corps.
