Gerard Charles "Jerry" Grohman was born in San Antonio, Texas on 16 August 1931. He was the fourth child of Frank Emil and Hedwig "Hattie" (Seidel) Grohman. He died on 21 December 1991 at the age of 60.

He was preceded in death by his father (1962) and sister Theresa (1946).

He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Mary Miller (Henry), Joseph Grohman (Margaret), Eleanor Domingue (Curtis), Elizabeth "Betty" Renault Mendoza (Alfonso), Leroy Grohman (Joan), John "Tommy" Grohman (Audrey), Alphonsus "Al" Grohman (Sharron), William "Billy" Grohman (Charmaine), twin 1: Patrick C. Grohman (Diana), twin 2: Patricia C. Cloud (William). He had numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry married Peggy June Goldin on 24 December 1952 in Seguin, Texas. They had 4 children. (1) October 1953, Lanelle E. "Tootie" Marley (Johnnie), grandchildren: Johnnie P. Marley, David H. Marley, Andrew W. Marley, and Jennie J. Marley, of Corpus Christi, Texas. Step-granddaughter Nicole A. Marley, of Louisiana. (2) February 1955, Gary S. Grohman (Fran), grandchildren: Melissa L. Grohman, Gary "Steven" Grohman, Jr., and step-granddaughter Felicia Dalton of Corpus Christi, Texas. (3) May 1956, Mark A. Grohman (Ellen), grandchildren: Karen F. Grohman, and Matthew C. Grohman, of Albuquerque, New Mexico (4) October 1957, Eileen "Twink" G. Parker (Richard), grandchildren: Cindy G. Parker, Kelly D. Parker, and Russell W. Parker of Ingleside, Texas.

Jerry and Peggy divorced in 1968. He married his second wife Vera Carsten on 18 October 1968 and they had no children.

Jerry retired at the age of 55 from the Corpus Christi Army Depot and spent the next five years traveling to bowl with the Senior Pro Bowlers Association all over the United States. He never won any major tournaments, but he had a lot of fun. He also loved to golf, and played everywhere he traveled for the SPBA. He enjoyed watching car racing, bowling and golf on TV. Jerry and Vera took the kids and grandkids on vacations every summer to different Texas State Parks.

Jerry took ill in October 1991 and discovered he had pancreatic cancer, from which he never recovered, dying at his home in Corpus Christi Texas.
