Emmor's parents died when he was very young. His sister, Martha, married John Smith. They brought the orphaned siblings with them to live in Iowa. Emmor married Elizabeth Conrad about 1858. Their daughter, Ida May was born 1858, Clara in 1860. Elizabeth was pregnant with Flavious when Emmor enlisted for service during the Civil War. Flavious was born in Nov. 1862.

Burgess "Bert" was born 1866. The family lived in College Twp., Linn County, Iowa. They later made their home in Fayette Twp., near Palo. He occupied himself as a farmer.

Elizabeth passed away in 1901.

1903 Emmor married widow Rosa (Rose) Kucera Dvorak in Cedar Rapids, where the couple lived. Rosa passed away in 1921. 1925 census Emmor is a resident of the Iowa Soldiers Home in Marshall county. It is reported to be the location of his death in 1927.
