Alton White, one of the best known and well-liked young men in this community, after a brief illness, passed away at the Secor Hospital in Kerrville last Saturday night at about ten o'clock. Alton was stricken with appendicitis Sunday, November 2nd, and was taken to the hospital Tuesday and operated upon at 6:oo pm that day. His case was said to be the worst that had ever been taken to the Secor Hospital, and it was feared he would never regain consciousness after the operation. However, he did revive, but only grew worse and the end came Saturday night. All the medical skills and tender care were to no avail.
Alton was 19 years of age on the 6th day of June last year. He was born and raised in Center Point and held in high esteem. He was a member of the Baptist church, having been a member for the past few years, where the funeral took place and the ceremony was conducted by his pastor, Rev. W.J. Downire. The body was conveyed from Kerrville in the early afternoon and followed to its last resting place by many sorrowing friends and the body was tenderly laid to rest at 2:oo pm.
The grave that marks the last resting place of this splendid young man is by the side of his mother, who passed away about 13 years ago. There were many beautiful floral offerings placed on the young man's grave.
He is survived by his father, Mr. O.A. White, and one sister, Miss. Ruth White and three brothers, Estrel, Ulrich, and Ralph White.
