Mr. Beck's death occurred Sunday morning in the Veterans Hospital at Dublin. He had been in poor health for several years and his condition became grave about three weeks ago when he was stricken with a severe heart attack.
The rites Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. James M. Tereal, officiating. Burial was in Memory Hill with Masonic graveside rites.
Mr. Beck was an employee of the Milledgeville Post Office for many years before poor health forced his retirement. A veteran of World War 1, he was active in the Morris-Little post, American Legion. He was prominent in affairs of the Masonic Lodge and was an active member of the Baptist Church.
A native of Wilkinson County, Mr. Beck was the son of the late John Allen Beck and the late Mary Frances Youngblood Beck. He was 56 years of age at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Lucille Benford; one son Jarrett H. Beck of Ridgeland, S.C., two grandsons, Jack and John Beck of Ridgeland; two brothers, G. D. Beck of Milledgeville and J. F. Beck of Macon; four sisters, Mrs. W. B. Hardie and Mrs. Newman Meeks of Milledgeville, Mrs. Ola Belle Bowden and Mrs. Maggie Wood of Macon.
