William Stallings Stroud, 79, of 1175 Gordon St, SW, died Friday morning in a private hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Henry County, Mr Stroud had lived in Atlanta since 1895. He retired four years ago from a contracting business in which his son was a partner.
He was a member of the West End Church o Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday in the West End Church. Mr J Edward Nolin will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, the former Sallie DeLay; a son, Carl H Stroud of Atlanta; a daughter, Mrs M S Witherington of Long Island, NY; two brothers, Herman H Stroud of Austell and M Bruce Stroud of Decatur; two sisters, Mrs W P Adamson and Mrs F M Neal, both of Atlanta; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
