She went to school in Coyville, KS, and to Independence Junior College and became a teacher, teaching grades 1-8 in a one room schoolhouse in Coyville. She met Cecil Henley at a local dance and they married in 1943. Cecil had joined the Navy and they were sent to the Alameda Air Base in Oakland, CA where Frances worked in a popcorn factory with other Navy wives. They returned to their Kansas home when the war ended.
Farming came next. Jobs then moved the family to Chanute, KS, Riverdale, ND, Pierre, SD and finally to Burien, WA. where they lived until moving to Renton in 2008.
Frances is survived by her husband of 67 years, Cecil; daughter, Carol Franks of Renton; son, Frank Henley of Leavenworth, WA; grandchildren Brian (Chris), Jason (Elayne) and Derek (Tracy); great grandchildren Emma, Drew and Mason.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 1:00pm at Bonney Watson Washington Memorial in the Chapel of Memories 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, 98188. Visitation will start prior to service at 11:00am. Memorial Fund: Highline Christian Church Bldg Fund, 14859 1st Ave S, Burien, WA 98168.
