Obituary for Mrs Sara Fort Ferguson

Sara Fort Ferguson, widow of Colonel Charles H. Ferguson, 81, died Monday, July 16, 2018 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Mt. Dearborn United Methodist Church with Rev. David Ussery and Rev. Douglas Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, July 20, 2018 at Dantzler Baker Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ferguson was born July 21, 1936 in Great Falls, and was a daughter of the late Laurens W. Fort and Grace Hunt Fort. She attended Converse College and is a Clemson University graduate. She was a member of Mt. Dearborn Methodist Church where she served with the choir for over 30 years and served as organist and pianist for many years. She was a certified IRS tax preparer and worked for over 40 years. She raised a family of five children and was an outstanding leader as Brigade Commander spouse in the 82nd Airborne Division.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Ferguson (Loreta) Chesapeake, VA, Sam Ferguson, San Francisco, CA.; two daughters, Lynn Fowler (Bill) Austin, TX, Laura Jolley ( Ed) Signal Mountain, TN, eight grandchildren, Will Fowler, Laura Fowler McKnight, Amy Ferguson, Jack Ferguson, Patrick Ferguson, Carolyn Jolley Stevens, Ed Jolley, Zach Jolley; seven great grand-children. Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her son Jack Ferguson, a granddaughter, Sara Catherine Jolley and her brother Laurens Fort, Jr.
