TORRINGTON — Donald Angino, 74, a former 32-year resident of Port Chester, N.Y., died at his home on Thursday, April 26, 2007. He was the loving husband of 53 years to Stellann (Yahne) Angino.
Born April 19, 1933, in Winsted, the son of the late Alfred and Mabel (Serluco) Angino, he graduated from Gilbert School in Winsted and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Bryant College in Rhode Island.
He worked at J.J. Newberry Co. for 20 years as manager and buyer of stores throughout New England and New York. He also worked as a buyer for an importing company for many years, traveling extensively throughout Europe and Asia.
In 1986, he established his own premium and advertising specialty company serving Fairfield and Westchester counties and New York City. He retired in 1997 and moved to Torrington.
Mr. Angino was a past president of Town of Rye Lions Club in Rye, N.Y. He was an avid trap shooter for many years and a member of Orienta Gun Club in Mamanoneck, N.Y.
He was also active with Sullivan Senior Center. His hobbies included trap shooting, card playing with friends and traveling.
In addition to his devoted wife, Stellann, whom he married on April 24, 1954, he is survived by his daughter, Lynn Marie Hu, and her husband, Lawrence, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Christopher, Christina and Anthony, all of Sierra Vista; a brother, Dr. Ernest Angino of Lawrence, Kan.; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Yahne of Torrington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 30, from Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main St., Winsted, to St. Joseph's Church, Winsted, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Winsted. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 30, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sullivan Senior Center, 88 E. Albert St., Torrington, 06790.
