Reta Olive (Barkhouse) Spinney - 91, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on April 20, 2013 at Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, with loved ones by her side. She was born in Medford on March 20, 1922 to Clarence and Charlotte (Conrad) Barkhouse. Reta's greatest joyswere her family and her Savior, and she served them both with all of her heart. With her loving spirit, courage, unwavering faith and positive attitude despite her personal tragedies, she was a light to everyone around her. She became an integral part of the Evergreen community, where she received exceptional and loving care for which she daily expressed her appreciation. Reta was a much-beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and although she will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her, they are comforted to know that she has been joyfully reunited with Len and their children. Reta is survived by grandchildren Timothy and Cathy Fournier, Charles (Aileen) Spinney, Melissa (Chris) Sawh, Mary (Kevin) Kennedy, Emma (Matthew) Sherlock, Jonathan (Andrea) Spinney, Lisa (Jason Pickles) Spinney; sisters Violet Dennison, Dorothy Wile and Doris Leopold; daughters-in-law, Ardith Spinney and Sheila DeWolfe; sisters-in-law, Olive Ogilvie, Pauline Spinney and Shirley Barkhouse; 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Reta was predeceased by husband, Leonard and her 4 children, Lenny, Carolyn, Peter and Dennis; brothers, Aubrey, Alfred and Wilbert; sister, Evelyn. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Kingsway Pentecostal Assembly, Belcher St, Kentville, Pastor Terry Penney officiating. Burial will take place in the Habitant Cemetery, Habitant, Kings County. Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory may be made to the MS Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
