DECATUR -- Dorothy Leah Cooper (Murphy) Baldwin, 93, of Chatham, IL, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018.

A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Maroa Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Dorothy was born on August 25, 1924 in Maroa, IL, the daughter of Robert and Sylvia (Whitehead) Cooper. She was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church, Musicians Local 123 in Richmond, VA and the American Legion Auxiliary in Decatur, IL. Dorothy was the past organist for the Eastern Star in Macon and a recipient of the D.A.R. award. Besides raising her children she played piano and organ at various clubs and organizations throughout Central Illinois.

She leaves her daughter: Linda S. (Rod) French of Chatham, IL; grandchildren: Christina (Chris) Dunn of Bloomington, IL, Cory (Stacey) Chamberlain of Chatham, IL, Carissa (Donnie) May of Grand Rapids, MI, Timothy (Kerrie) Murphy of Zeeland, MI, Brandi (Brandon) Bailey of Portland, OR and Kacey (David Bining) Murphy of Portland, OR; eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Lloyd Murphy, Jr. and Larry Murphy, two brothers: Elwood Cooper and James Cooper, three sisters: Grace Braden, Rosalie Long and Naomi Taylor.Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.
