His war records indicate they were married at the courthouse in Jackson County in 1848. But since fire has destroyed the courthouse and records.The rites were performed by Rev Simeon Houk, an uncle. The marriage was recorded in the Interrogatories for WDJ Murray on an application for a military pension. He states there that there was no longer a record of his marriage, that the courthouse had burned down.
