Perry F. Reynolds, loving father and proud World War II veteran, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at the Dayton VA Hospice. Perry was born March 14, 1919, on the family farm in Grapevine Creek, Pike County, Kentucky, to Miles and Polly (Justice) Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ervel and Frennie; sisters, Edith, Clara, Merle and Zelda; first wife, Elinor (Senters) Kelly; second wife, Blanche Reynolds; and special friend, Margaret Williams. Perry served as a paratrooper and radio operator in the U.S. Army, Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry, 17th Division, from 1942 to 1945. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds suffered in France in June 1944 and Luxembourg in February 1945. He served in the Normandy Invasion, Battle of the Bulge and Operation Varsity, where he parachuted over the Rhine River into Germany near the end of the war. Perry was a people person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed singing with family and friends. He retired after many years of service to both NCR and the State of Ohio. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church in Kettering. Perry was a devoted family man who cherished his immediate family, nieces and nephews, and many others whom he embraced as family. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Perry (Joni) Reynolds, Patty (Mike) Flavin, Nancy Reynolds, and Janice James (Joyce Gibbs); six grandchildren, Perry (Carly) Reynolds III, Robert Reynolds, Pete (Amy) Flavin, Gretchen (Corey) Brown, Lisa (Jeff) Waugh, and Rachel (Phil) Savage; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bob Coder, Nel Pritchard, Betty Tilley and many others. The family would like to thank Senior Pathways, Hospice of Dayton and the Dayton VA Hospice for the loving care they provided to Perry. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday September 24, 2016 at the Tobias Funeral Home-Far Hills Chapel 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Pastor Don Payne officiating.
