He was the youngest son of Raymond C. and Marie (Bain) Montgomery. He grew up in the rural community of Non, Hughes County, OK., and graduated Calvin HS in 1962. He was active in church as a teenager and his pastor, Rev. Roma Stewart, asked him to go to a summer session with him at the FWB College in Nashville, and from there he found his calling in life. He began to preach in his senior year of HS.
He met and married Sammie Raylene Bond, of Ada, and they began their life's work together. He went to OK State Univ. at Stillwater, where he completed a Master's Degree, while pastoring a mission church there which needed help. He then went to Nashville, TN for more theological training and received another Master's degree.
He pastored in several states: in Aurora, Ill.; spent several years in a pastorate in Hollywood, FL; Cofer's Chapel Church, Nashville; in Georgia...and then relocated to Ada First Church, OK, and at last to First FWB church in Checotah, for several years of fruitful ministry from which he had just retired this year. He began having health problems, and at last he was not able to overcome the gravity of his condition. He was ready to move to his new home. His wife of over 50 yrs survives him as well as a son, Todd, Tenn, and a daughter, Rev. Carmen Cook, Mich. Also, two grandchildren, Tenn; two brothers Roger Montgomery of Kansas, and Roy Montgomery of Oregon, and sister-in-law, Louise Montgomery, Calvin, OK. Several nephews and nieces as well as many cousins. His parents and a bro. Jerry Montgomery, preceded him in death.
A large host of family and friends are saddened by his passing.
