"Hap" Campbell


George Edwin "Hap" Campbell, of Bloomington, passed away at Bloomington Hospital January 9, 2007. He was 97.

Born June 5, 1909, in Brown County, he was the son of Hiram A. Campbell and Elizabeth Lanam Campbell.

He was a retired superintendent at Ralph Rogers, where he set up stone crushers in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Colorado. He was a member of the Operators of Engineers in Alabama.

Survivors include sons, one of Russellville, Alabama, one of Whitehall and one of Bloomington; a daughter, Freda Wylie of Tuscumbia, Alabama; 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ritter Campbell; brothers, Alan and Lowell Campbell; sisters, Blanche Campbell and Lucille Ritter.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11, at Chandler Funeral Home with Brother Michael Douglas officiating. Burial was at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
