Hazel Juanita Mayes Nixon
Mrs. Hazel Juanita Mayes Nixon, age 77, of Lowgap, NC, passed away Monday, June 02, 2014 at Central Continuing Care.

Mrs. Nixon was born in Galax, VA on June 9, 1936 to Joseph Mayes and Grace Hawks Blevins.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Coy Edwards of Lowgap, NC, Janie Lee Nixon of Mt. Airy, NC, Mary Ann and Haney Puckett of Lowgap, NC; a son, Charles Nixon of Mt. Airy, NC; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; sisters, Lena Willey of Elkin, NC and Nell Lowe of Mt. Airy, NC and a brother and a sister-in-law, Bobby and Kay Martin of Lowgap, NC.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Nixon; daughters, Rachel Glass and Roberta Spencer; a son William Nixon and brothers, Lawrence Mayes, Leon Mayes, Howard Mayes, Curtis Mayes and Leroy Mayes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday at Maple Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Woody Flippen.

Burial will follow in the Nixon Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
