HAMILTON, Ill. -- Charles Leonard Bolton, 65, a long-time resident of Hamilton, died at 12:02 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 23, 1993) in his home.
Born Oct. 25, 1927, in Sonora Township, Mr. Bolton was a son of Earl A. and Ida Kirschbaum Bolton. He married Mary H. Rhodes April 22, 1950, in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo. She survives.
Mr. Bolton attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in Nauvoo. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hamilton and the Hamilton VFW 5256. He had been a member of the Hancock County Board since 1967, serving several terms as chairman, and was Montebello Township supervisor. He managed the Hamilton VFW for 18 years, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Karen) Wear of Carthage; one son, Gregory of rural Nauvoo; three brothers, Alan of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Richard of Nauvoo, and Raymond of Peoria; one sister, Mrs. Francis (Janice) Fedler of Nauvoo; and four grandchildren, Stacie and Brittany Wear, and Danny and Jessica Bolton.
Mr. Bolton was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Catholic Church by the Rev. R. M. Lukoskie and Rev. Eugene Heintz. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Sunday in the Lamporte Funeral Home, with family meeting friends 7-9 p.m. and a wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Spina Bifida Camp Ability of Lake Forest, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
