From The Pleasant Grove Review (Pleasant Grove, Utah) - Wednesday, March 11, 1998:
Arthur Earl "Bud" Ellison, 80, passed away March 5, 1998 in American Fork of lingering illness. He was born March 4, 1918 in Nephi, Utah to Earl Ellison and Fern Haynes Ellison. Bud was raised by his stepfather Henry "Red" Worthen and his mother Fern in the Nephi area. Bud attended Juab High School graduating in 1936. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam conflict.
As a manager of construction projects for over three decades Bud traveled in Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, Canada, Indonesia, Australia, South American, and the Middle East. Bud was a gifted pilot and logged thousands of hours in the air. One of his favorite pastimes in later life was to fly his own plane with the kids and grandkids. He also loved to fish and spent many happy hours with his brother and the children in his boat on the lake.
Bud or "Red" as some of his friends knew him was very interested in the quality of life in his adopted city of Lehi and served as mayor in 1981-82.
Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Ellison, former spouse, Rosalind Perry Ellison, and a daughter, Pamela. Bud leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Anna June Haws Southwick Ellison, a son Perry (Terry) Ellison of Peekskill, N.Y., son, Lynn R. (Maureen) Southwick of Orem, daughter, Tresa (Garth) Kinder of Price, and son, Tony R. (Joan) Southwick of Taylorsville. He had 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, June Stein, Barbara Van Kalmthout, and Mary Mahar, and brothers, Dick (Sally) Worthen and Kay (Audrey) Worthen.
The family held an open house in memorial to Bud on Sunday, March 8 at the Ellison home.
